The European School of Urbanism & Architecture is a new approach to architectural education addressing the most pressing challenges of European and global practice today.

Features of the programme:

  • The latest advances in best practice on sustainability and climate change
  • Integrated study of urbanism with architecture
  • Inter-disciplinary education
  • Immersive, project-based learning
  • Exchange studies across national boundaries
  • Emphasis on local and historical resources as a basis of sustainable economics
  • First-hand studies of local architectural, urban and cultural histories
  • The economic and cultural value of local identity and tradition
ESUA has developed a new five-year curriculum for architectural education, and is currently running a number of workshops and study tours to address key areas of the curriculum currently lacking in architectural education.

The long-term goal of ESUA is to establish a full European architectural education based on a network approach with international partner institutions.

Student Testimonials

"The knowledge we acquired during the workshop seems enormous to us. It has been a unique experience to participate in such a big scale (and real) project."

"The experience of the last five workshops has determined the way I see my education, the profession, the craft, the human values that are connected with skills and life…"

"For me the ESUA project has been the most exceptional experience of my architectural education."

Dr. Charles C. Bohl, External Evaluator

"The scope and pace of the ESUA project has been impressive: the completion of a research phase, the development of five test modules and conduct of five workshops in four different nations involving dozens of academics, practitioners and students in the course of two years is extraordinary. The ESUA team has proven itself extremely capable of moving rapidly from concept to reality."
